Chico State Professional Accounting Certificate:

The Professional Accounting Certificate here at Chico State was created by the accounting faculty, the Department Chair, to help accounting students reach the 150 units and be able to obtain CPA licensure. Because of this certificate, enrolled accounting students at Chico State are able to get the extra credits needed and offers courses such as Accounting Ethics, Forensic Accounting as well as other experiential classes. Most classes for the Professional Accounting Certificate are online and allow students to prepare for the CPA exam. This certificate enables students to take some or all of the exam while they are still in college.

The California Board of Accountancy treats the PAC like having already completed your undergraduate degree, so students can sit for the exam while still in college. The Professional Accounting Certificate is free for accounting students at Chico State. This is because the PAC is taken concurrently with the option in accounting coursework. This concurrent nature also makes the program much more efficient. The PAC will typically take an extra semester for most students to complete.

With the accounting degree and the PAC, accounting students are highly prepared to enter the accounting industry with the necessary units needed and the skills to become successful certified public accountants.
